Community & Transit Skills

Our Community & Transit Skills program is designed to equip students with the essential tools for navigating and interacting confidently in our communities. Through this program, students continue to develop vital skills that promote independence, safety, and positive social interactions in public spaces.

Key Skills Covered:

  • Pedestrian & Transit Safety: Students will learn the importance of safety while walking or using public transit, including rules of the road, proper behavior, and how to stay aware of their surroundings.
  • Route Planning & Navigation: By understanding how to read maps, plan routes, and use transit systems effectively, students will gain the confidence to travel independently.
  • Emergency Situations: We focus on teaching students how to respond in emergency situations, helping them stay calm and make informed decisions when needed.
  • Public Etiquette: Students will learn the appropriate behaviors for various public spaces, such as public washrooms, fitness centers, restaurants, food courts, and entertainment venues. This training ensures that they interact respectfully and responsibly with others in these common spaces.

The goal of this Community & Transit Skills program is to empower students with the necessary skills to thrive in their daily lives, promoting both personal independence and social awareness. With a focus on practical life skills, we help students build confidence in their ability to navigate the community and use public services effectively.
